Towards a social compact
Indlulamithi uses scenarios to draw stakeholders from all sectors of society into a productive dialogue — ones that helps us understand the country’s options for building an inclusive society. But the end goal is for these dialogues to culminate in a new social compact.
Building an inclusive future requires collaborative energy, resolve, determination, compromises and commitment. It requires South Africans to be united by a common purpose and focus efforts on creating a future that benefits all.
Scenarios build the foundation for this social contract. By bringing together people from different sectors and institutions, and involving them in a joint process of shaping the future, scenarios create collective understanding of the challenges, opportunities and trade-offs that lie ahead.
